Problem with forms if the contact numbers change

Hi Ken, All,
With my organisation we're now implementing a project with the ministry of health of Nicaragua to monitor Dengue and H1N1 situations in Managua via FrontlineSMS forms.

During the installation of the forms we have this bug :
1. We create one form
2. We invite the 30 contacts to use this form
3. They receive the "New form available" msg
4. When the clients do a "Ge new forms", "No forms" messages are received by the server

It seems that the reason of this bug was that after inviting a contact with a initial phone number, we then modify the contact phone number in the contact details.
As the "Form permissions" seems to be done by phone number, if the same contact changes of phone number it seems to corrupt all the form database....

Hi Benoit,

Sorry to hear about your problems. This sounds like a serious bug. I think initially it would be good to keep the phone numbers constant!

In the next release of FrontlineSMS, Forms permissions will be done by Groups, so this problem should not occur, but I realise this is little comfort right now.

I suspect that keeping the phone numbers constant will be the easiest solution for you. If a user changes his number, you will be best of creating a new Contact to represent this new number. Perhaps you could change the old Contact's name from e.g. "Maria" to "Maria (old)".

I do hope this helps; let me know how you get on.

Yes, that what we'll do: never change a phone number but create a new contact if the number changes.
By the way isn't it possible to associate the form to the contact ID and not to the phone number ? It seems more appropriate.

Yeah that would also have been more appropriate. I think it will make even more sense to have the Form associated with a group, as then you can actually see who has permission to download the form as well - there is no easy way to do that right now.

Right, thanks for your quick replies.
