FrontlineSMS

FrontlineSMS allows you to text message with large groups of people anywhere there is a mobile signal.

When using Keywords to allow users to Join a Group and subscribe themselves to your SMS service is there a smart way to capture other information about the user signing up?

Right now I can use a keyword such as "ADD" to automatically add users sending a message starting with that text to a certain group. However, of course all I have captured is their phone number. Since FrontlineSMS allows for so much more information to be added about a contact including their name, and email address it seems wasteful to let these fields go blank.

Is there anyway to allow users to update their contact information via text message?

It would be great if they could text in, "ADD Jim Brown, Jim@jim.com" and have their name and email address also added in addition to adding them to the group!

Wishful thinking perhaps!

Hi Saikyo

This has been requested before, and is on the list (but a low priority at the moment). =)
