FrontlineSMS

FrontlineSMS allows you to text message with large groups of people anywhere there is a mobile signal.

Hi Ken, hi everybody,
I've just downloaded FrontlineSMS and tried to start using it with a Nokia 3220 connected to an USB cable using ArkMicro USB to Serial Ports (COM 5) drive... FrontlineSMS was not able to detect the phone, even with several speed and buffer options.
The same phone, with the same cable and drive, did connect to Nokia PC Suite though.

Could you please tell me if there is another way to use that phone model or should I better look for another device? If the latter, is there a list of already tested compatible devices?

Regards,

Moises.

Hi Moises

The developer guys can answer this better, but I know that sometimes the Nokia PC Suite 'grabs' the phone port and stops other applications from using it. In these cases, you need to close down PC Suite (I'm guessing by right-clicking the icon next to the clock in the tray, and selecting 'Exit').

So, try this. Close down FrontlineSMS, then exit Nokia PC Suite, and then run FrontlineSMS again. See how you get on and post a message here.

Good luck!

Ken
Ken,
Thank you! It worked! As you said, Nokia PC Suite was blocking the use of FrontlineSMS. Conclusion: FrontlineSMS works fine with a Nokia 3220 using an ArkMicro USB to Serial Ports cable.

I will continue testing your app.

Warm regards,

Moises.
Great news, Moises!

Good luck playing with FrontlineSMS, and please let us know how you get on (good or bad!). We're getting close now to the end of our testing period.

Cheers.

Ken
Sure!
