FrontlineSMS

FrontlineSMS allows you to text message with large groups of people anywhere there is a mobile signal.

Is there either within Frontline, or in an add-on utility, the ability to schedule outgoing messages?

Or would such an event have to be triggered by some 'outboard' program?

Hi Phil

We have been asked a few times about this, and the current release of FrontlineSMS has no scheduling functionality. However, the new version which we're working on now will allow the software to take instructions from an external application, so this will be possible (assuming you have an external application, and the resources to code it to integrate/communicate with FrontlineSMS). At some point in the future, funding and bandwidth permitting, we may add scheduling to the core functionality.

Cheers.

I am also interested in scheduling messages to be sent automatically at the same time each day to specific groups. I have no programming experience, is there any simple way that I can setup FSMS to do this for me or does it necessitate more indepth programing knowledge?

Hi Adrian

Even with the new functionality - which we're adding in the next release - you will need some programming resources available to get it working. If someone out there wants to write a scheduler for messages which we can incorporate back into the platform, then they're more than welcome. =)

I suggest waiting until the new release is out - likely at the start of next month sometime - and seeing what comes up in the Forums then. I'm sure other users who get scheduled SMS working will be happy to share how they did it.
