Linking FLSMS to an ACCESS db via external events

Hi

I am linking FLSMS to an access DB via external commands so that an incoming SMS triggers an external event that opens ACCESS which reads the SMS (from the FLSMS tables in MYSQL), processes the SMS data, creates some maps and displays the data in Google earth. The only thing I cannot do via the external command is to pass data back to FLSMS (from ACCESS) to be included in in outgoing SMS via the 'include response' option of the external event. I get the feeling it should be easy but cannot figure it out?

Anyone got any ideas?
