First of all, you can confirm the dongle software is switched off by using the Task Manager. Which version of FrontlineSMS are you using?

In Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, there was a change in user permissions that prevents FrontlineSMS from reading the ports in which the modem is connected. This also means that you cannot be able to insert and use a modem directly for any other application.
To resolve this problem, add your user to the group dialout using the command:
sudo usermod -aG dialout <username>

I don't understand what you want to do. By default, FrontlineSMS stores messages in the database you specify. What do you mean when you say "i can be able to retrieve information via text".

thanks for your patience, i did not know that it was a default facility. now i can see the messages in my database.
but wen i include the port 8011 to my localhost on the HTTP trigger, i get blank messages in the database. it does not show the message content or the sender number. what is the problem and how can i fix it?
with regards.
stanley.
