Forms compression format

I am currently looking at Forms, and on the website it says " Once the data input is complete, the information collected can be sent back to FrontlineSMS as a compressed text message". 

 

Is there any documentation, how the key/values are arranged and the the compression is done, and how it can be uncompressed?

Or is this only in the source code of FrontlineSMS (Desktop), forms processor/parser part? While the forms module itself isn't open source, it this compression algorithm available in source?

 

Is the compressed text message sent as a regular SMS, or is it any special format?

(Unfortunately I don't have a forms capable phone yet, so I cannot test it myself at the moment.)

Another question that comes to my mind is whether Forms supports Chinese characters without a problem.
