FrontlineSMS allows you to text message with large groups of people anywhere there is a mobile signal.
I've managed to get FrontlineSMS running on an ARM system, specifically the Raspberry Pi.
I've detailed the full process on my blog.
Essentially, the main problem is that librxtxSerial.so isn't suitable for ARM. So you need to install librxtx-java and replace the bundled .so that FrontlineSMS comes with.
Java runs pretty slowly, but the software all seems to work perfectly.
Is there a lightweight CLI version?
NB - only tried v1.6, not 2.0.

Permalink Reply by Alex Anderson on June 24, 2012 at 9:48am Hi Terence, very cool - thanks for sharing. We can look at including ARM binaries in future builds, although until we get a RaspberryPI of our own I'm not sure how easy it would be to test. Any idea what the lead time on ordering them is at the moment?
There's no CLI-only option for 1.6, but next release of V2 (scheduled this week) will include --no-tray switch to disable the tray icon, and we'll be looking at providing standalone WARs in the next few weeks.
