Is this for demos in the UK or for using in the field, or both?
I want to demo to a group of peopel who may then want to go onto set up hubs for themsleves so ideally I want to deo wiht the 'real thing' and using equipment they can get hold of and use.
Replying here for posterity.
The reason I ask is that we can sell you unlocked modems (we prefer Huawei E-series modems) for £45 each, but you can get modems much more cheaply from the networks as long as you don't mind them being 'locked' to the network - these are typically about £20. Networks subsidize the hardware. You can buy them from most mobile phone shops, they're usually sold as internet dongles.
In the country people are working in, again it is likely to be far cheaper to buy the modems there from the network - for example, Safaricom in Kenya will sell you an e-series Huawei for 2,000 KSH.
If you would like us to supply you with modems, drop me or Amy an email and she can draw up an invoice and pop them in the post for you.
That is very useful information to pass on - thanks! yes please can you supply and unlocked modem. I will coordinate with Amy. Thanks for your very prompt response.
I will bring a modem when we meet and we can work out the payment then.
