FrontlineSMS

FrontlineSMS allows you to text message with large groups of people anywhere there is a mobile signal.

I am glad i managed to overcome the first huddle and i am able to connect and send SMS (Thanks to Sila!). However the system is not returning auto reply sms to the recipients even though i checked the section for auto-reply to thank the recipients.

Secondly is it possible to view an analysis of results on FrontlineSMS when the recipients reply to my poll questions?

Thirdly i have heard people talk about frontlineform which allows one to conduct a survey by asking more than one question to the recipients through phone. Please share a link where i can get to learn how to do this. I intend to gauge the opinion of OVC in our project on the quality of services they are receiving which can best be done through some form of questionnaire with few questions.

Regards

Joel

HI Sila,

Thanks for the feedback. The graph is not loading any results, it is reading 0%.  How comes the feedback is going to my modem and nothing is showing on frontlinesms?

Joel

Hi Joel,

In response to your question about auto-replies, I assume this is to do with a Poll FrontlineSMS version 2? If so, the auto-reply will happen only for messages that match the keyword and are automatically assigned to the Poll activity. You should see the outgoing message in the message list, and also in the Pending Messages section.

Please confirm whether there are messages added to the pending queue when messages enter the poll.

Sitati

Yes i am referring to Version 2 but when i set the key word to "Yes", there is no auto-response going to the recipients after they answer "Yes" to the poll. I am able to see the poll question on sent items though.

By the way is the response case sensitive?

Thx

Joel

Hi Sitati,

Any ideas on why my frontlineSMS is not working as expected?

Joel

If you have a yes/no poll, and set "yes" as a keyword, to answer 'yes' to the poll the sms would have to read "yes A".

To give a clearer example, if the keyword is "poll", the response "poll A" for the message to be categorised under the 'yes' response, and "poll B" for the no response: there must always be a match of keyword followed by a matching response.

I think the problem is that your poll is not receiving the messages you expect it to - this would explain both the empty poll graph and the lack of autoreplies. Could you confirm whether the messages you receive are appearing in the poll message list or in the inbox?

Hi Sitati,

The following is how i have set my poll question;

Were you visited by CHV in the month of July? Reply "YES A" for Yes, "YES B" for No.

I selected Yes as a keyword and have been replying YES A but nothing is coming back to my FrontlineSMS account but instead all responses are going to my modem line. I do not know what i am doing wrong since my graphs are empty too.

What is your skype address or gtalk we engage some more if this is fine with you?

Regards

Joel
