FrontlineSMS allows you to text message with large groups of people anywhere there is a mobile signal.

I have been trying for a few hours now to get V1 to work with an (unlocked) Huawei modem with Vodafone (pay as you go) SIM card. It seems to recognise the device, but can't connect to it properly (see screenshot attached). I am not sure what I need to try next to get it working.....
Any advice appreciated. Thanks, Ellen.

Are you running the mobile partner software together with the frontlinesms software? You need to close the mobile partner software then run frontlinesms.
NB: mobile parter software is the modem software that comes bundled with the modem.
The modem should connect automatically if a pin is not set on the SIM card.
Good luck

We have been careful to close the driver software and have restarted the laptop a couple of times also. Will we be asked for a PIN number if the sim has one ? We have not set one up, but it might have a defualt one (the card it came with says PIN 0000)

When you open the modem software are you able to send and receive messages from it?
Thanks

Permalink Reply by Vaneyck Seme on August 31, 2012 at 6:17am Hi, do you mind uploading another screenshot that shows the error details of the connection. From the current screenshot the 'Device Connection' popup hides the details at the bottom.

Permalink Reply by Ellen Ward on September 6, 2012 at 4:48am Hello, I can now send a text message from the Huawei modem software (mobile partner) - this did not work yesterday, but when I try to connect the modem to FrontlineSMS I get the same error message as before...'FrontlineSMS was unable to connect to an SMS device'
What else can I try now please ?

Could you probably share the solution? Did you disable the pin from mobile partner?
Thanks
Permalink Reply by Ellen Ward on September 6, 2012 at 6:36am Yes, I think the sim card was not activated when it was delivered to use by vodafone. Issues were resolved once the sim was activated.
