FrontlineSMS

FrontlineSMS allows you to text message with large groups of people anywhere there is a mobile signal.

I sucessfully set up my Burnside Modem up on a PC and now am trying to do the same on my Mac. It says
- Copy the following files to /Library/Java/Extensions:
- RXTXComm.jar
- librxtxSerial.jnilib
- libsqlitejdbc.jnilib
- sqlitejdbc-mac.jar

Where do I get these files?

Also has anyone used a phone with Mac FL and if not, why should it be offered?

Hi Dan

Thank for the message. The notes re: copying files are now out of date, and FrontlineSMS should run on the Mac without any changes. If it doesn't, check the on-screen instructions (found under the "Download" section of the website). As for FrontlineSMS running on the Mac, some users have successfully installed and used it, but only about 5% of downloads are Mac users so it's a very small audience. See if you get any response from the Community, but I know some users have swung towards Motorola PEBLs (available on eBay, Craigslist, etc). If you're looking to predominantly send messages, and you have an internet connection, then you can go via IntelliSMS or Clickatell (instructions in the "Settings" section of the Help files).

Hope that helps.

Ken
Yes, that's right, first time I confused but after "look" inside the package of FrontlineSMS.app/Contents/Resources/Java/ all the mentioned file is there already.

I am using it on my tiger OS X 10.4.11, it run very well, just copy the app to Application folder, and run it..
But I am using GSM USB Modem which is available in cheaper version compared with mobile phones..
Thanks
I have tried various versions of Leopard, my Burnside GSM modem as well as a Nokia phone. To no avail! DId you have any set up problems?
The only problem that I have is (No Forms) problem, and it related with Forms only, just disable the form with this :
http://frontlinesms.ning.com/forum/topics/no-forms-error

and you will have FSMS / FL running 24/7 in your Mac.
Can you tell what is the problem with your mac and FL ?

Good Luck..
FL will not connect to the modem - never sees it. Cannot manually connect, etc
From my personal view:
Better for you to buy another GSM modem (or test it first). My modem is Huawei E156G (from Indonesia) and Huawei E1552 (from Philippine), both are running fine and detected with out problem.

Another personal view, I am not recommended to use mobile phones for running 24/7.

Good luck..
Ken, I am beginning to think that I need to buy a PC and that FL does not work effectively on the MAC. One of the reasons we use FL in Thailand as opposed to Clicktotel, etc is that it is free to receive and cheap to send. We simply do not have the budget otherwise. Dan
Hi Dan

We know FrontlineSMS works on the Mac (there are people using it), but I don't run my FrontlineSMS from one (there are just too many driver issues to deal with, and I'm just not proficient enough in OSX to play around with getting a device to work). If you can get hold of a cheap Netbook (or second-hand laptop) running Windows then that's one answer, else Waladi may have other suggestions. Other users may be able to help, but it's quiet on the Forums right now because of the holiday break. Might be worth trying again in a few days? As I mentioned, the Motorola PEBL is one device favoured by Mac users, if you can get your hands on one (with cable and driver).

Ken
