Need help with a project!!!

Hello everyone,

      I am Chandan, doing my final year engineering in Bangalore, India. We have a project in mind which is specially to facilitate the transportation. We have decided to use frontline sms which actually suits our requirements. I have installed frontline sms on my pc, i am able to send and receive messages. Now, my query is, 

Say i have connected phone 'A' to pc and phone 'B' is independent.

1)How to store the replies i get from 'B' in form of excel sheet on my pc(which acts as a server in my project) ?

2)Can i access this excel file and retrieve the data in it to use it in my program?

I need help.

Hi Chandan

 

Glad to hear you're looking to use FrontlineSMS in your project.

 

You are going to need to use a combination of "External commands" (and possibly "HTTP Trigger") to achieve this. Both are covered in the "Help" files if you want to take a look there. Unfortunately we don't have the resources to write the required scripts for you, but there seem to be quite a few students using FrontlineSMS in India for their projects - I suggest you look in the "Members" section of the site here, search for "India" and look to see if anyone there might be able to help. You can send direct messages to other members of the community. I know quite a few students have been asking about connecting FrontlineSMS to external databases, etc.

You can use php script as external command to process the messages that comes to your phone when connected to the pc then process the message as csv which can be open as excel sheet
