FrontlineSMS allows you to text message with large groups of people anywhere there is a mobile signal.
Hi all
First of all, wanted to say this is a great community!
Thanks to the information already available in this forum, I have been able to install FSMS 1.6 and setup the External Command for HTTP Request.
Now, my query is related to one of the 'options' available with External Command.
From the FSMS interface, it seems I should be able to send/forward/include the 'Sender's Name' name when sending the SMS by HTTP Request.
But right now FSMS is sending the senders number even when I have 'sender's name' variable in the command/URL.
The URL is provided below for reference:
HTTP://www.......script.php?s_name=${sender_name}&s_number=${se...}
Can anyone please tell me how can I send 'sender's name'?
Thanks in advance for your help.

What release version are you using. You have mentioned 1.6. Can you give a more specific release version something like 1.6.16.3. Probably other recent releases have that bug fixed.
Thanks.

thanks for the followup.
And yes, you are right; I using version 1.6.16.3.
My understanding is that the "External Commands" feature has been 'disabled' version 2 onwards.
As you might imagine, the "External Commands" is essential for my application.
Thanks!

I have confirmed and tested it and its working in version 1.6.16.3.
Maybe you can try and set it up again with a local server on your pc.
Thanks

From your explanation I can see what may be wrong? More details could be helpful.
Permalink Reply by Shahriar Khondokar on September 5, 2012 at 4:01am Certainly!
What I had done wrong was that when I saved the mobile numbers in the Contacts 'tab', I did not save it with the country code, in my case "+88".
So, if a local mobile number is 01754388861, I should save the number in FSMS as +8801754388861.
