FrontlineSMS

FrontlineSMS allows you to text message with large groups of people anywhere there is a mobile signal.

How about adding a simple scripting language to manage events in FLSMS!

I think it will be very useful.

Great idea; we've been considering something like this for a while. Have you got ideas for the functionality that you'd want to script?

Best wishes,

Alex
On top of my head would event handling for:

on receive sms, on send sms, on device connect, on device disconnect, on send-fail

and internal identifiers for
1. sender number
2. receiver number
3. receiver name
4. receiver group(s) [this could be an array if multiple groups available!]

also, the use of internal variables.

and include wildcard keywords to process text messages!

and "if then else", and logical tools
Nice ideas! Are you interested in discussing implementation of this? If so, head over to the developers mailing list at http://groups.google.com/group/frontlinesms-developers
thank you!

I'm not a coder, unfortunately. I'm a marketing major at college lol

BUT, I have no problem helping you guys! FLSMS is really one of the best applications I have used so far.
Hey, shame you're not a coder! For anyone interested, I've made a quick prototype of this. You can get the source from http://github.com/alxndrsn/FrontlineSMS-Scripter-Plugin, but you'll probably need some Java experience to try it out.
a decent api was defined by Microsoft Research India and their MSRI SMS Toolkit. http://smstoolkit.codeplex.com/ and ActiveXperts have a good API for reference. http://download.cnet.com/ActiveXperts-SMS-and-MMS-Toolkit/3000-1044...
Thanks, Frank! Great pointers.
