FrontlineSMS allows you to text message with large groups of people anywhere there is a mobile signal.
I'm trying to find a cell phone that is compatible with FrontlinSMS in Mexico, but haven't had any luck. So far I've tried the Nokia C1-01 and the HUAWAI C6005 (both phones are Telcel). Has anyone had experience using FrontlineSMS in Mexico? If so, could you recommend any compatible phones? I had also bought a Telcel GSM modem and FrontlineSMS recognizes the modem, but all of the messages I've tried to send are listed as "Pending." Does anyone know what might be going on with that? Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks!!!!! Lauren

Thanks so much for your message. I was able to recieve a message on my Huawei E153 modem sent from a cell phone in Mexico. I have not been able to send any messages using the modem though. Could you please let me know your thoughts on that? I need to both be able to send and receive messages using the Huawei modem, so just being able to receive the messages won't be enough.
Also, I have been able to use IntelSMS to send a message to a phone in Mexico, but the message takes about 10 minutes to arrive to the phone. Is it common for messages to be so delayed?
As part of the mHealth project I am working on, we will be asking women accessing medication at pharmacies about their dosage and contraindications, etc, so I will need to figure out a 2 way messaging system that is compatible with FrontlineSMS in Mexico.
Thanks for your help with this Sila!

Are you using version 1 or the new version 2 software.
Please upload the logs, it will help us diagnose the problem mush better regarding the modems.
Thanks

I think we figured out the modem issue, but now we are having trouble with the messages taking a very long time to send. We are trying to use FrontlineSMS to send a series of questions to folks through SMS - the participants are in the field so we can't ask them to download anything to their phone. We would like for sending and receiving messages to be relatively quick, but we've found it takes a while for the messages to leave the outbox. We are using a Telcel Hauwei modem. I looked around for internet services to send and receive SMS, but since the people we are interviewing will be in the field, they need to be able to text back to a local cell number. Do you have any recommendations for us to speed up delivery and receipt of messages? We are just interviewing one woman at a time, so it's not the volume of messages that's a problem. Thank you for your help with this!!! Lauren

We have released an new version (version 2.2.0) of frontlinesms which has fixed some of the modem issues. You might want to download that version.
Thanks
