FrontlineSMS allows you to text message with large groups of people anywhere there is a mobile signal.
Hello, everyone :)
A few weeks ago, my machine was upgraded to Windows 7 & I'm just now getting around to setting up FrontlineSMS. I've run into some challenges... :(
I have a Sierra Wireless USBConnect Mercury modem that worked on my previous XP install, but I can't seem to get it to work w/FrontlineSMS on Windows 7. I know I have the proper drivers installed because the AT&T Communication Manager can successfully detect & connect to the modem. But whenever I fire up FrontlineSMS it doesn't detect anything.
Has anyone else here been able to get this combination of OS & modem working? Or do you have any suggestions as to how to proceed/troubleshoot?
BTW, I made sure to close the AT&T software before starting FrontlineSMS to ensure that the drivers weren't "locked"--I at least know that much! :P

I think we'll have to take a closer look at this. There have now been a couple of reports of Windows 7 problems in the past couple of weeks. The solution the last user used was to revert to an earlier version of Windows (not easy, or ideal, obviously). You could try running FrontlineSMS *with* the AT&T software running, just in case it now needs to run for some reason.
Otherwise, can you perhaps give it another go, and when it fails to connect send over your logs (via the "Help" menu)? We'll then ask Alex to take a look at them. Hopefully the problem will be fairly obvious.
Thanks, James.

Does FrontlineSMS see any devices in the Phones tab?

Can you send us your logs? I know we do have users on Windows 7 (including Alex :) ) so I don't think that's the killer here.
Thanks

Permalink Reply by Georgia on September 20, 2011 at 1:28pm Did you have any luck with this? I'm working with a few different modems - Sierra Mercury 885, Sierra USBConnect 881.
I haven't successfully used the modems since upgrading to Windows 7.
