Hi Darlington,

You may find this blog post of interest, which is about engaging farmers via SMS and sharing information on weather changes.

It would be great to hear your thoughts and ideas on how best to engage farmers, as from your profile I can see you use a variety of communications tools in your work.

All the Best

Darlington, you are right and the best way to engage farmers is through continuous sensitization.

Dear All,

Issues of climate change are no longer seen as issues for scientists only, every farmer is getting concerned and are now part of the people who are seeking for solutions to the problem. How best should we engage them?

Hello all,

Ironically I am here to learn about front line because NING are closing there free groups.

I set up a project about 3 years ago to monitor erosion of the beach at Venus Bay (one of the few long sweeping undeveloped wide sand beaches remaining). The beach had begun to suffer significant erosion, presumably due to accelerated sea level rise. However our observations so far do not exactly match the Brun Rule (widely used to predict the effects of sea level rise in the IPCC studies) and we possible have now more questions and things to observe than when we begun. We are looking at ways to make it easier for new folk to submit their observations and being able to do that via SMS has a lot of appeal. Hopeful it might appeal to younger people to join up.

My limited testing so far has shown that my telstra Next-G modem usb card works fine as a frontline sms phone.

Now for the fun bit getting the observation onto websites and possibly a database :)

Namaste, we are new to this and wondering if through this group we would be sending messages to the group members be sending messages to the group using this app. or do we post to the group about our experiences in the above discussion forum? Please excuse our inexperience in this matter, we are just finding our way around.
Thank you and peace be with you.

I have tried to send a form to my handset via a safaricom modem, the message asks to start the programme, then new msg 'unknown error' appears. It further reads ' unknown error occurred while handling this request, FIRST_LOCAL_COCE:-32768' what could be wrong?
