FrontlineSMS

FrontlineSMS allows you to text message with large groups of people anywhere there is a mobile signal.

I am looking for a add on pack which will enable me to send sms from Excel. For example if I want to send SMS to student/parent with their marks it should be able to take information from MS-Excel. Like Student Name- Jackson, Percentage- 72%, English- 87, Maths-99, Science- 67 and so on. Thanks in advance.

Hi Ananth

Technically you can do this with FrontlineSMS, but you're going to need to have some coding skills since it's advanced functionality.

If you do, you'll need to write a program to read the spreadsheet and then pass the message you want to send into FrontlineSMS. For this to work you'll also need to set up a "HTTP Trigger". Further details on that can be found in the "Help" files.

If you don't have the programming knowledge for this, your best bet would be to find someone local who does.

Best of luck, and let us know how you get on!

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the reply, it is of great help. I am not a programmer but as you said I can request a friend to help me out with this. If we succeed in this, then I'll update you and the community.

Regards
Ananth
Ananth, we'll have to add this to the requirements for a future release of FrontlineSMS:Learn (http://learn.frontlinesms.com)! Of course, we'll want to think about whether it makes sense to build an Excel bridge or bring some of the grading functionality into the module itself. After all, the first release will include assessment capabilities so it wouldn't be a stretch to think about adding grading & notification, too. Thanks!
