Am planning to get across children and youth interested in learning about the dwindling forest tree species of central India, later helping them to -
1.learn to identify as many tree species as possible, 2.collect their seeds or fruits,
3.seed germination and care of the seedlings ,
4.distribution transplantation and care of the nurtured plants.
5.learning about the local avifauna .
6.explore possibilities of developing a proactive attitude
towards issues related to nature and conservation.
Came across frontline sms in the net,and decided that this could be a valuable medium of getting across messages of conservation and activities to interested children and youth.

Am working as a Programme Executive for Akashwani ,the All India broadcasting service in India .At present posted at a small town called Saugor, in Madhya Pradesh State ,in India.Iam 50 years of age,and and my interests include interaction with children and youth on issues of conservation and the environment.
Have trekked frequently into the dry deciduous forests of Betul district of Madhya Pradesh State, and photographed about 90 tree species with their flowers and fruits for help in their identification. observed first hand the gradual degradation of the forests .There has been some interaction with people living in villages contiguous to the forests during the treks.Poverty ,fuel and fodder needs, callous collection of forest produce, insensitivity and ignorance about the flora and fauna seem to be some causes bringing about deforestation.Have discussed about such issues with school going children, some of whom get interested in learning about the forest tree species. They can be educated to identify many of the forest trees, collect their seeds or fruits, care for the plants that germinate from the seeds .would love to get in contact with people with similar interests ,share experiences, and perhaps develop useful projects.
