protocol/unknown format/high volume SMS

How well that volume of messaging works is largely going to depend on how 'immediate' your needs are. As Ken said in another thread, handling that amount of traffic is going to tax any GSM modem and…

Profile Information

What brought you to FrontlineSMS (please give as much detail as possible)?
I became interested in FLSMS after hearing about it on Twitter and getting involved with a small, local community group wanting to use SMS to reach women and children trapped in domestic violence situations.
About me (please also add an image to your profile):
I'm a 34 year old entrepreneur and new social activist. I own a small open source electronic medical records company focused on providing high quality software to the small to mid-sized medical community in the United States and, especially, abroad.

In my spare time I enjoy working on creative ways to uplift people through the use of technology, writing, playing chess, and writing music. I'm a tech and political addict and am generally into anything geeky.

I live in a small town in Oklahoma with my two dogs, a bird, and a Betta fish with a huge attitude that I'm convinced will one day break free of his tank and launch an evil plan to attain world dominance.

How FrontlineSMS will help domestic violence victims in the USA.

I only recently became involved with FrontlineSMS as an addition to a national project my company, OpenEMR HQ, is doing with a small African country. But, since discovering the software, I've been busily thinking of good ways it could be put to use by organizations in my own community and I've come up with a few I believe are viable. Today, I want to share one of those ideas and how we're going to use FrontlineSMS as a tool to help combat violence against w… Continue
