I've been interested in global health since I started studying medicine, and took a year out to study international health in 2010. As part of that, I developed an interest in the role of Community Health Workers and carried out a research project in Bangladesh on their role in delivering family planning. After hearing about FrontlineSMS on the BBC World Service, I came across MedicMobile, and saw how this tied neatly in with the role of CHWs. I think that developing health systems in the global South will look very different to the 20th-century-oriented health systems in the global North, and CHWs and mobile technology will play a key role in expanding access and keeping costs down.

I am a final year medical student at the University of Dundee. I have a BSc in International Health from the University of Leeds, during which I undertook a research project as part of an internship with BRAC in Bangladesh, looking at the role of community health workers in delivering family planning. I am interested in global health, community health, public health, reading, writing, travel, and people.
