Why are you interested in FrontlineSMS? How did you hear about it? (To help us filter out spammers, we need as MUCH detail as possible, else we may not be able to approve your request. If you'd rather not share this information openly please email info@frontlinesms.com before joining): I am a VSO volunteer placed with an organisation called APHIAPlus KAMILI in Kenya. I have been tasked with implementing an SMS system that will communicate informational messages to Health Facilities in Eastern Province and also to transmit data directly to facilities and the Ministry of Health from the field.

I found out about FrontlineSMS by browsing the web, starting with Google and eventually homing into this software.

I have done needs assessment in the field and discovered that FrontlineSMS can bring a lot of benefits to the communities and intend running a pilot service which will be the next phase of my project starting at the end of July.

The project is planned to complete at the end of February 2013 coinciding witht the end of my placement contract. I plan to implement the use of mobile phones from the field as the third and final phase of the project. Hopefully I will be able to recommend the expansion of the project to cover a large number of facilities after the successful testing between July and February.

Tell us about you. (Please also add an image to your profile): I am a retired IT Manager doing my second stint as a VSO volunteer. My previous experience was in Nepal in 2005 - 7 working for two NGOs as a capacity builder and organisational developer. The bug of working in international development has bitten me and I hope to continue working in this field.
