Deploying FTLSMS in Vanuatu

In Vanuatu deploying \o/ for Vanuatu Family Health Association which provides Sexual and reproductive Health services in this remote archipelago of the south pacific. They are stoke with the forms application (we are using the version 1). We struggle a bit to download it to a pile of Nokia 2220 handsets due to a clogged monopolistic Digicel network. Vanuatu is the south pacific developing country with the highest teledensity (85%!) they are faced with tremendous challenges (remote and scattered…See More

Trying to set up email account. Created a specific gmail account ( I enabled POP in my new email account settings as well as IMAP). Then in frontlinesms email settings I entered smtp.gmail.com and 465 for account server port and ticked SSL. When I save these settings it gives me the following message:"Could not connect to SMTP host: smtp.gmail.com, port: 465java.net.SocketTimeoutException: connect timed out" I saved anyway.I then tested by sending an email reminder to one of my contacts and the…See More

I may ask a stupid question but hey here I go: is it possible to use the forms application between two laptop units equipped with GSM modems. want to visit a health project using \o/ in Asia Pacific

Hi,I am based in the pacific and interested to visit projects using \o/ in the field of health in the Philippines or elsewhere in Asia Pacific (not too distant from Fiji). An ongoing project, already well established and functioning linking remote health facilities/services or a patient monitoring system would be ideal for me to learn as I am planning to develop the application in the insular Pacific with NGOs. Is that possible. Can you give me some contacts? most appreciated.Best…See More

Why are you interested in FrontlineSMS? How did you hear about it? (To help us filter out spammers, we need as MUCH detail as possible, else we may not be able to approve your request. If you'd rather not share this information openly please email info@frontlinesms.com before joining)
'Discovered' frontlineSMS while searching the web reading on e-health. I have downloaded the application and strat playing with it. I am Interested to use it in my work and be able to demonstrate it to colleagues and NGO/Gov project partners as the application could be of great interest to them. The Pacific Islands are facing severe shortages of qualified health workers compounded by profound communicative and geographic barriers yet mobile phones and GSM coverage are ubiquitous.

Hi Ferdinand,

I am actually in Timor Leste now, but yes we did have success with FrontlineSMS but only after we gave up the attempts to use a phone and found a Huawei modem instead. I don't know of anyone who has had any luck with phones. And FrontlineSMS do not recommend their use any more. We use modems here as well. If you go to WSB talk to Jennifer or Rex about it. I believe Siula left recently. Cheers and good luck. John
