Hi Jonathan,
I am working with an NGO in India and looking to install Frontline SMS. Unfortunately I am working remotely (UK) and the folks I am working with in Mumbai are having trouble getting a suitable phone to plug into their PC. I was hoping you might be able to provide some assistance in getting hold of a suitable phone/modem that works in India.

Any assistance or pointing in the direction of someone who can help would be gratefully received.

Hello Jonathan !

I am with Greenpeace in Bangalore. We are trying to use Frontlinesms for our communication with supporters and also to collect data from volunteers. Since I am not a tech guy I needed to know from you on the phone/modem that works successfully in India. Also which is the client phone that can accept forms.

Many Thanks

Hi Jon,

Can you tell me place where you purchased the Wavecome modem that is working for your project.

I know Hubli, pretty much. The name of the shop / landmark and the contact number if any?

This would be useful for me to buy the same one.

Thanks Jon,

The purpose of 2 SIMs is to have the benefit of using a fancy number for incoming SMS that is easy to be remembered by the public. We are considering BSNL in AP for this purpose.

And the purpose of another SIM for example from Airtel is that we can take their low cost say 2 paisa SMS add on options and can us them only for pushing SMS. Such offers can keep changing from time to time and we can change the outgoing SIMs as necessary.

Also my idea is to use a 2 modems (we have low cost GSM modems from Teltonika in the market. Hopefully they work) or even 2 phones ex: Motorola L6i for one F SMS application.
Will it work that way?

(Currently I use Sony erricson w200 but I could not find another piece in the market of the same.)

Do you think we can use two mobiles or 2 GSM modems for the same F SMS applications?

Thanks Jon,

I am trying to get one wavecom modem.
Onemore quick query. Any suggestions on using 2 seperate GSM SIM's on same F SMS project. One to receive incoming SMS (some easy to remember number) and another for Outgoing using sms only (using a SMS top up card the way you are using with Airtel.)

Also, how was the response from Deshpande Foundation for your project. We might approach them for funding for another project using F SMS or some other similar platform. Just wanted to get a feel of their response to your work.

Please let me know.

I am trying to set up F SMS on a GSM modem.

Few questions. Which model of wavecom did you try successfully in your project?
Any idea if this works with all W. Vista / XP & Mac??

Any suggestion if I have to have many keywords. Can I import them through some import option / external command.

Waiting for your inputs,
