Thanks for the warm welcome. I have heard a lot about Frontline SMS and Rapid SMS but have never gotten down to actually playing around with the code and the infrastructure. I should be doing that soon. Currently I have very little to offer as we ourselves are just starting out with the SMS stuff. I can give you one use case where SMS was actually used in a CR station in India. The station called Radio Bundelkhand ran a "Bundeli Idol" competition. This was similar to American Idol except that the songs were original Bundeli (a dialect of Hindi) songs. People listened to songs and sent "votes" for singers over SMS. The volume of SMS was not very high, say tens of messages per day. Interestingly a lot of messages received were in Hindi. We were not involved with the whole program, just that GRINS was being deployed at the station during that time. Hopefully I will have more inputs for you as I sit down with the stations trying to understand how they would use SMS for their tasks.
