Karim Amijee said… Dear Tracey,
I saw your message regarding your use of FrontlineSMS for Farm Voice radio project, and your queries around FrontlineSMS:Radio. I'm co-ordinating the initial design and development of :Radio so I thought I'd tell you a little more...
We're currently in the design and development stages, aiming to release a beta in early 2011. We have a group of community radio stations who are using the original FrontlineSMS and giving feedback to inform ways it can be tailored to radio use. Two of these stations are Pamoja FM in Nairobi, and Radio Mudzi Wathu in Mchinji, which you may have come across/ heard of if you were in those areas.
Soon we'll be at the stage where we're able to draw up the draft functionality and design specifications, which we'll share with the trial stations (and the wider FrontlineSMS community) for further feedback before we begin building at the end of January.
We're also discussing the functionality and design of :Radio in the media group: http://frontlinesms.ning.com/group/media/forum/topics/frontlinesmsradio-1
It'd be fantastic to hear about your experiences with Farm Voice and any ideas for FrontlineSMS:Radio you might have.
Best wishes,
Karim
