Vantharith, Thanks. I have set up FL on a PC with a GSM modem and have set up Logmein. Works fine. Have you figured out how to remotely download the messages? I want to use 4 incoming and outgoing SMS numbers off the same server. Any insight on tha…

Hi Dan, Thanks for dropping by with this question. In fact, there 2 separate things here - 1) FLSMS server and 2) Remote desktop (internet connection required). For the remote desktop, there's a free service offered by logmein.com. For my project,…

New FrontlineSMS server set up in Phnom Penh - Soft launch till end of Sep

Greetings,

Happy to share a good news from Phnom Penh, Cambodia!
Now I manage to setup a new FrontlneSMS server here in Phnom Penh Capital. Today. And we also managed to have remote acess worked 100% fine, so Rob from OZ can have access to the server and build up on the database.

We are planning to have it go ONLINE next month. It will be used to support Rob's existing project in agriculture/farming sector. Now, we are in our soft launch phase :)

Another thing that I wish to see in the near f… Continue

Khmer language support: Translation 100% completed

Hi Ken,

Happy to share with you this good news - the Khmer language support is 100% completed.
Please find the attached Khmer language file for your next step.
Hoping this Khmer language support will be included in the next release of FrontlineSMS :)

Anyway, just an update - I met with Rob few days ago in Phnom Penh. It was a nice meet-up with nice talk and interesting discussion. So, we are hoping to start working together in the future. He also lent me his GSM modem, which I am very thankful… Continue

Khmer language support: Translation ongoing...

Hi all,

This is Vantharith from Cambodia.
I am a Cambodian, living in the capital of Phnom Penh.

I, by chance, happened to know about FrontlineSMS when I was reading some blogs of Singaporean BarCampers. I was then re-directed to FrontlineSMS website.
After reading and learning more about FrontlineSMS, I also read further on other projects of Kiwanja.net.
I'm so impressed by all the projects and would like to see future/possible adaptation or application in Cambodia.

So, I then requested Ken… Continue

You free sometime later this week? How about lunch on Thursday, or post-lunch meetup at a cafe somewhere?

Vantharith, you seem to be the hub for Frontline SMS for Cambodia! I missed PP BarCamp, so I missed your presentation on Frontline, but I'm interested to hear from you what you know of Frontline here in Cambodia. Lemme know if you're interested in meeting up sometime

Hey Vantharith
I just moved to Battambang and was beginning a project using FrontlineSMS when I saw your comment on the forum. I'd be really interested to talk to you and see if we can collaborate. I'll be coming to Barcamp PP, but maybe we can talk before then. How do I get in contact with you?
Cheers,
Justin

Hi Vantharith!

Just found you on Twitter. =)

The language translation should be available in the next release, which is now due the end of September (we've had a few new languages to incorporate, but they should all be done in time. Sorry about the delay with this).

As for the BarCamp idea, I think it's great! Please let me know if there's anything you need from me, or if I can help in any way.

Have a good weekend!

Hello Vantharith - it is good to hear from you and your interest in our work with FrontlineSMS. I would be very interested to talk to you more about work and explore ways you could get involved. I plan to be in Cambodia later this month - perhaps we could arrange a meeting? Where are you based? My Phd student, Sothea, is based on Phnom Penh at the moment and he could phone you later this week to arrange a meeting.
Cheers
Rob
