I am interested in FrontlineSMS because it targets a group of people in the world who have limited access to IT technology but in many cases much greater needs for services that IT can provide than their more affluent neighbors. I am eager to build systems that help folks in disasters, health emergencies, environmental management issues and other civil society concerns. I worked a the US embassy in Maputo, Mozambique 2004 - 2007 and saw firsthand how important SMS is in the lives of people there in Africa. I would like to be a part of empowering them and others less advantaged than myself, using SMS. I heard about FrontlineSMS while working at my day job, here in the Office of eDiplomacy at the State Department.

I've worked more than 20 years in the State Department, much of it in areas a bit off the beaten track -- Bosnia, Kazakhstan, Mozambique. I grew up in northern India. In between I worked with refugees in SE Asia, both Vietnamese 'boat people' and Cambodians. FrontlineSMS seems like a wonderful tool for empowering folks in rural areas, in disaster areas, and out in the beautiful outdoors -- much of it overseas.

John, I live just outside of DC in Beallsville, MD and would like to share experiences with Medic Mobile, Frontline SMS, and the other pieces of Medic Mobile. I have solar powered computer network and need to get medical software running for Haiti and Tanazania installations. Thanks. Lee (240) 479-1510
