Greetings,
Happy to share a good news from Phnom Penh, Cambodia!
Now I manage to setup a new FrontlneSMS server here in Phnom Penh Capital. Today. And we also managed to have remote acess worked 100% fine, so Rob from OZ can have access to the server and build up on the database.
We are planning to have it go ONLINE next month. It will be used to support Rob's existing project in agriculture/farming sector. Now, we are in our soft launch phase :)
Another thing that I wish to see in the near f…

my area of interest in using the mobile phone technology is monitoring HIV/AIDS service delivery in communities. currently we use frontlinesms to track availability of resources aimed at combating the effects and impact of HIV/AIDS in the rural areas. SMS are sent weekly by different coordinators to community health workers to check if certain resources are needed (example: condoms, home based care materials)

I'm currently on the testing phase. I intend to use Flsms in sending updates on feed, hog and broiler price to farmers in Calabarzon who are members of our Coop.
I tried using a borrowed Sony Ericsson which worked but I have to return it.
I tried Flsms with my phones (Nokia 3120 Classic + bluetooth and Motorola W156 + wire) but these were not detected. So I bought a Smartbro dongle (Huawei E156c) for $42 and a special SIM (+62-908-XXX-2222) for $5.21 which I'm now using. As the dongle's purpos…

In late May of this year, I assisted a local crisis center in deploying a solution we've now dubbed "FamilyFIRST". FamilyFIRST is an SMS based system that allows victims of domestic violence to reach out to police, crisis counselors, and to document abuse incidents all via simple SMS messaging.
When the project first began, neither I nor the agency involved were sure how it would be received or if it would even be used. Educating victims to think proactively in crisis situation is a difficult t…

Hi FrontlineSMS Community!
FrontlineSMS now supports Hindi, but when you use the Hindi that is installed on your computer (Computer Panel > Regional and Language Options > Hindi), you need to learn a whole new keyboard map to type. You can find the map just by doing a google search, and it looks something like: http://tinyurl.com/hindi-keyboard-map
For example, to write "pooja" in Hindi, you would have to press the keys "h-t-p-e."
Learning this whole new set of keys is probably difficul…

Hi Ken,
Happy to share with you this good news - the Khmer language support is 100% completed.
Please find the attached Khmer language file for your next step.
Hoping this Khmer language support will be included in the next release of FrontlineSMS :)
Anyway, just an update - I met with Rob few days ago in Phnom Penh. It was a nice meet-up with nice talk and interesting discussion. So, we are hoping to start working together in the future. He also lent me his GSM modem, which I am very thankful…

I only recently became involved with FrontlineSMS as an addition to a national project my company,
OpenEMR HQ, is doing with a small African country. But, since discovering the software, I've been busily thinking of good ways it could be put to use by organizations in my own community and I've come up with a few I believe are viable. Today, I want to share one of those ideas and how we're going to use FrontlineSMS as a tool to help combat violence against w…

Hi all,
This is Vantharith from Cambodia.
I am a Cambodian, living in the capital of Phnom Penh.
I, by chance, happened to know about FrontlineSMS when I was reading some blogs of Singaporean BarCampers. I was then re-directed to FrontlineSMS website.
After reading and learning more about FrontlineSMS, I also read further on other projects of Kiwanja.net.
I'm so impressed by all the projects and would like to see future/possible adaptation or application in Cambodia.
So, I then requested Ken…

Initial Funds. Every project relies on some source of funding to enable a smooth take off. AMIS-CAMEROON is no exception. We think it is impotant to lay out just how these initial funds shall be used to address our specific needs.
The whole objective of AMIS-CAMEROON is to give farmers and consumers educative information that enables them to arrive informed decisions that affect their livelihoods in positive ways. Given funds, we shall be able to purchase bulk SMS, reach out to farmers & co…

There was a time in the I.T field when specializing in one area was ideal. For example an e-mail administrator only had to manage his or her mail server all day, and a router administrator only looked after the router, and SQL admin only worked on SQL. That was then…
In today’s I.T market you have a better chance at finding employment, or keeping your existing job if you can manage the mail, SQL, file server, and routers. This of course may only apply to medium to small sized companies, but I b…
