BNNRC is a non-governmental organization in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.

 

Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) is a national networking body working for building a democratic society based on the principles of free flow of information, equitable & affordable access to Information & Communication Technology for Development (ICT4D) of remote & marginalized population through;

 

Right to Information for ensuring improved livelihood of the marginalized

ICT for Development for Bridging the Digital Divide in rural areas

Community Radio/Community Broadcasting for amplifying voices for the voiceless &

Amateur Radio for Disaster Risk Reduction

 

It gives our great pleasure to inform you that, we are planning to hold  day  long National Consultation on Amateur Radio in Bangladesh on 07 May 2012, Conference Room, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission(BTRC), Ramna, Dhaka 1000 Bangladesh in collaboration with Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).

 

Maj. Gen. Zia Ahmed, psc (Retd.) Hon’ble Chairman, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC)   present as Chief Guest of the inaugural ceremony of the 1^st  National Consultation on Amateur Radio in Bangladesh.

 

The main objectives of the 1st National Consultation on Amateur Radio in Bangladesh are as follows;

 

1.         Gather Opinion on National Amateur Radio Policy 2012 2.

2.         Develop a online Exam. System for Amateur Radio License

3.         Adopt Guideline for Strategic use of Amateur Radio for Development in line with

Disaster Risk Reduction

4.         Formulate Strategy to Popularize Amateur Radio in line with Digital Bangladesh Process

5.         Raise Awareness about Amateur Radio among Stakeholders     

6.         Strengthen capacity and capabilities of Amateur Radio Holders with professional and

technical assistance in line with Coastal areas of Bangladesh

 

1st National Consultation on Amateur Radio in Bangladesh will bring a broad range of stakeholders including distinguished Member of Parliament (MP), Policy–Makers, Representatives from Government, Media,  UN Bodies, Development Partners, Amateur radio Holders, academicians, NGOs, Private sector and experts from home and abroad.
