FrontlineSMS allows you to text message with large groups of people anywhere there is a mobile signal.
This demonstration shows how to set up FrontlineSMS keyword to forward messages to a Twitter account. This can be used to distribute messages to the Internet without a direct Internet connection. In this demo, FrontlineSMS is used to anonymize the messages sent to the Internet by removing callerID and other identifying details of the sender.

Comment by Joellen Raderstorf on March 4, 2013 at 4:39am Thanks Gordon for your response. We are using a Netman, modem locked to the national cell phone provider and it works perfectly w/FrontlineSMS, is in our budget, but won't interface with Twitter. The device/modem/netman will only connect if internet is disconnected.
Comment by MARS Lab (Gordon) on March 1, 2013 at 1:05pm Hi Joellen, the other way I've done this is to have incoming texts forwarded to a twittermail account. This will work if you have email/internet access with FLSMS: http://mashable.com/2007/06/27/twittermail/
Comment by Joellen Raderstorf on February 28, 2013 at 5:44am Was so excited but found out that our cell carrier in Namibia does not connect with Twitter. We are using a modem, so I am assuming that is that.
