FrontlineSMS in Malawi; Interview
This is an interview with Alexander Ngalande, the Home-Based Care nurse at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Namitete, Malawi. The hospital serves 250,000 people spread over a 100-mile radius. FrontlineSMS (www.frontlinesms.com) is the center of a new, SMS-based communications project linking Community Health Workers (CHWs) and remote patients to the hospital's services.

Great interview, Josh (and Al)!
Nothing really beats getting the story from the users themselves. Sounds like there is a real sense of ownership at the hospital, which is key if this is to prove sustainable. It will be interesting to see how other clinics and hospitals react as news spreads of its use at St. Gabriel's (and, as you know, news is spreading). With a little bit of hardware and a modest messaging budget, there's nothing stopping what you've helped happen there happening in other places. This is what makes it so exciting, I think.
